Course Information
Our Evacuation Chair (Evac Chair) Training is a practical course designed to equip learners with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to operate an evacuation chair safely, support PEEP arrangements, and assist with the evacuation of mobility-impaired persons in an emergency. The course is delivered to align with workplace evacuation procedures and good practice for safe moving and handling.
Course Highlights
• Understand the Basics of Fire Behaviour
Gain an understanding of how fire can develop and spread, and why early decision-making and safe evacuation procedures are critical.
• Understand Building Compartmentation
Learn how compartmentation supports life safety by limiting the spread of fire and smoke, and how this may influence evacuation strategies.
• Emergency Evacuation Planning
Understand evacuation strategies, staff roles and responsibilities, and how evacuation chairs support PEEPs and wider site emergency plans.
• Evacuation Chair Theory
Cover chair familiarisation, limitations, safe storage, basic checks, and the principles of safe use to reduce risk to operators and evacuees.
• Evacuation Chair Practical Use
Gain hands-on experience preparing the chair, assisting a person into the chair safely, and operating the chair on stairs and landings using controlled technique and clear communication.
